MUSIC Hi Day Sequestrians. This episode is brought to you by our brilliantly nerdy friends at Die Hard Dice Omar. Behold these glorious dice, behold them.
Speaker 2Oh my God, I love the polymer ones with the signature Avalor design and these blunted edges.
Speaker 1No, no, don't touch it. What are you doing? No, don't touch it. Look, we're gonna at intermission, we're gonna play a little game with them.
Speaker 2Oh, okay, is that what the skoo-bit is for?
Speaker 1Yeah, the squid hat.
Speaker 2Yes, it is.
Speaker 1It's the squid of squalor. Okay, okay, and yes, you're gonna have 30 seconds to roll a nat 20 lest you succumb to whatever fate you pull from the squid of squalor. So choose your d20 wisely, dude.
Speaker 2Okay, but how about if I do roll a d20, then you have to do it.
Speaker 1Fine.
Speaker 2Okay, great.
Speaker 1I'm in.
Speaker 2We'll see you at intermission.
Speaker 4Welcome to this Die Quest episode five, and welcome Erica to the tea kettle oh.
Speaker 5Cheers. I need to get into this, jai.
Speaker 4Oh, I'm excited to get into this jai and into this game Now, where our adventurers have left off is pretty bleak, oh, and I think they definitely are gonna need your help.
Speaker 5Did Sethie do a number on them? She did.
Speaker 4She attacked them. There you go. We had a malevolent spirit and a dread domain, but a friend of the party, one named Mir, essentially took the place on this rot throne, taking over the dread domain, granting our adventurers safe passage. For now they still need help getting to this mountain rock dippa. There slumbers the goddess Silsalon, without whom the harvest festival cannot begin, which you're an expert in.
Speaker 5Oh yes, absolutely. I stage manage to the hell out of that thing, usually every year.
Speaker 4A good friend of yours, bria, a benefactor of the arts, has arranged for you to whisk these adventurers away towards the mountain, hoping that maybe you can help each other and hoping that maybe you can remind them of the importance of Rangali. But there are challenges along the way. Now there's this group called the Racknick Court a little bit misunderstood Racknick.
Speaker 5Oh.
Speaker 4Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5Okay, wow, yeah.
Speaker 4You might be able to barter with them to help them get up the mountain, which, between you and me, our group has not been the greatest at diplomacy thus far. Oh no, they have traveling with them a young witch streamer. What? Sorry, it's not a twitch streamer, I did a witch streamer. That immediately regretted it, but oh.
Speaker 5Are you trying to tell me that we have a social media influencer on the team?
Speaker 4Yes, who specializes in paranormal content? Oh, and she was. She tried to befriend a ghost in order to make her videos better, but this ghost, sefi, turned on the party and things went south. But this well-meaning witch streamer, natasha, is going to try to help our party navigate this deep, dark, flooded forest they find themselves in now. I think, with your help, they can make it to Raktiba. I think, with your help, they might be able to make it out of the foothills of the Mahan Kat to the upper reaches. Oh yeah, easy peasy. Well, I look forward to seeing you out there.
Speaker 5Yes.
Speaker 4Yes, Welcome to episode five of this Equest. Welcome players.
Speaker 1Hi Dear Princeets.
Speaker 4Good to see you, good to see you, sad to see where we are. Natasha, already placed upon the board, you emerge from the pit trap, the good side of the pit trap, the side you want to be on. The other side's not a great side to be on. And you come to the horrible realization that your friend Namir has granted you passage out of this domain of dread, an otherwise very difficult region to exit from. He has taken up residence as the lord of this domain, a sacrifice to help you on your way. Oh, not yet. Sunlight, filtered through the boughs of the trees, envelops you in an almost emerald light, reflecting off of the slowly trickling waters of the river Soha. The smell of mulch, the sound of mosquitoes gently buzzing. Things are peaceful, a stark contrast to the nightmare from which you have just emerged. You still vaguely hear the sounds of some strange ghostly creature moaning below before fading into the darkness, and you see Natasha sitting near the edge of the pit trap, tears welling at her eyes.
Speaker 6I look at the statue of Namir and look at her and I go to her and I ask you're going to be okay? Are you hurt?
Speaker 4No, I'm not hurt. I just feel really bad because she was my friend and I'm sorry that she hurt you all, but I don't think she was a bad person.
Speaker 6Darling, I don't think she was either, and it wasn't your fault. Sometimes good people are driven to do bad things because they are in so much pain that they don't know what to do with it and it drops out of them in ways that they can't predict. It's not your fault.
Speaker 4I thought, by modifying her memory maybe it would help her, and instead I messed things up even more and almost got everyone killed.
Speaker 6You did what you did.
Speaker 4But also, like you're really bad at the ghost hunting business, that you should leave it to the professionals.
Speaker 2I think that accusing Ladooanty of that is incredibly cruel.
Speaker 6Ladooanty almost died.
Speaker 7Darling Ladooanty, comes in hugs or don't cry. Don't cry, it's okay. It's okay. You did not. Hey, I'll say something I've never said in my entire life. It is not your fault.
Speaker 4But you're bleeding.
Speaker 1You don't worry about that. I just want to remind you that you said it was not my fault down in the chamber.
Speaker 7It doesn't matter, that is the past. Ladooanty looks towards Sitara and is just disgusted with herself because she hurt you. I, sitara, I am so sorry, I am a bad on D and she like breaks down crying.
Speaker 6I, I don't say anything, I just walk over to her and put my hands on her shoulders. I cast pure wounds, I think at just first level. Right, yeah, it's a little something, yeah, and my tears got caught in my lashes.
Speaker 4It's like a sponge that keeps soaking them up, and then they get heavier.
Speaker 6Don't waste the pretty darling, keep them up here. Come on Right here, right here, you dab, that's it, that's it, that's it, that's it from a professional. That's what you leave to the professional. But uh, auntie, I know that wasn't you. None of what happened down there was Whatever happened down there. We're here now.
Speaker 7The way that you tended to Natasha. You haunted her.
Speaker 6Where do you think I learned it from?
Speaker 7Dear God, don't try to give me a compliment. Don't try to give all. Explode on impact.
Speaker 6Don't give me a compliment. I start to laugh. And then I glance over and I see he's a statue. Now, yeah, I see the statue of Namira. Uh, I walk over and kneel in front of it. There's this plant life integrated with it. Right, you said moss and Moss lichen.
Speaker 4In fact, his normal hair is replaced with, like lichen, a lichen crown.
Speaker 6I am going to gast speak with plants and I'm going to put my hands on his knees. What did you do? You have been kind, you have been wise, you've made a sacrifice we never would have asked you to make. You told me once about where I didn't belong, and now I understand where I do. I had hoped you would be a part of that, but you did say you loved the moss and the lichen and the creatures. So I hope where you are, wherever you are, you are home too. If you ever need us, we are here.
Speaker 4And thank you. Make a religion check with advantage. Seventeen Gain the boon of Namira. I love you. That is the longest boon that one can acquire in the game.
Speaker 6All right, guys. Now we have to move fast. Let's go.
Speaker 4As you say this, you hear a voice coming from down the river in a canoe, and you see a familiar figure, maria Her langa, tied into a makeshift doti, her dupatta kind of like tucked into the side so that she's donned a sort of sporty look. She calls out to you and she goes Sitara Divi, are you quite all right? Don't worry, I took care of the cottage. You know the one that you ripped up. It's fine, they're fine. I paid them off.
Speaker 6I've never been so happy to see you in my life. You look, oh you look, all the oh, I've brought.
Speaker 4Well, there's someone who very much wants to see you.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 4You see, things are getting quite bad back in town With the harvest festival, with Rangali being put on the back burner. Things are getting very bad and I wanted to introduce you to someone and she motions to someone in the canoe behind her. Will our guests join us at the table, please? No, no.
Speaker 7I'm going to scream. Yes.
Speaker 3Oh, wow.
Speaker 4I brought a friend.
Speaker 3Yes, I brought a friend, yes, oh my God, I can't believe it.
Speaker 7Wow, first Sefi, now Erica, yes, wow.
Speaker 4She re-adgestures in her new sort of safari, look in the canoe behind her and says you simply have to meet my very good friend, nuri Nuri Um. These are the people I was telling you about, you know, the ones that she had a bit of umbridge with, or rather, you wanted to enlist the help I don't quite remember. You said that there's something wrong with the play yes, and that it's not happening oh right, yes, yes, yes, yes, I mean, some of them are tourists. They might not know about it. Forgive them Truly.
Speaker 5It's a vision and you're a vision in it, but I feel like maybe, thank you, that's quite fine. Hello, I'm Nuri Gafour and I am basically in charge of making sure that the show goes on. So I am told that you have a little trouble doing that yourselves, but less in the show business sense and more in the you all look rather.
Speaker 6Well, I've been immediately like shape-changed, so I look a little bit better than I used to before. Like a little bit of a little bit glowy. I can't see that. I'm probably bleeding out of every limb At this point.
Speaker 3it's like I feel like you're gonna say something else Forces.
Speaker 6I was gonna say. I was gonna say forces but like she's not like. But yeah, I kinda cleaned myself up.
Speaker 5You must be Sitar then. Yes, alright, and I remember drawing in a pouch of mine and I pulled out a flower for you. Flower, yes, oh, let's go get a little bit of refresher. Thank you, the ash is my guest. Yes, hi, hello, hello, nice to meet you All right, very good, very good, and you can do things with healing. Your parents are, yes, my parents are healers.
Speaker 1I am by trade. I follow my parents. You know I kind of had to do what they wanted me to do. So, yes, I see.
Speaker 5And then auntie, yes, and Merca, yes, yes.
Speaker 2Yeah, present.
Speaker 5All right, very good. It seems like we've been out of a time crunch here.
Speaker 4Yes, we are so well, you see, I've brought Nuri to help us on this grand adventure of trying to get Cilsalon down from the mountain. Now, I know that you were going there for your own reasons, but things have gotten quite bad in Luckpin. You see, there's this idea that there's this Rackin' Court out here and that they are the ones that have tried to do something to the Goddess, so that they're sabotaging the Goddess, and that's why she hasn't come down. But, rangali, it's not just about the harvest, it's about people coming together, joining hands to defeat an evil, and the beautiful demonstration of this is done by Nuri. And Nuri has some relationship to the mountain and to the entity there, don't you?
Speaker 5Yes, you see, every year the Goddess comes down and does her little play. This year is a bit of a cluster show, oh do you need an? Understudy Because I'm ready For the Goddess. Do we need an understudy for the Goddess of Chaos and Entity she's very good.
Speaker 6I mean I am. People have told me that my performance is positively transcendent.
Speaker 5Well, you know, I will put your name and picture in if you wish, but for now my best guess is that we should go find the Goddess, get up the mountain which, oh, I put on a chai like a steaming chai.
Speaker 2Oh, okay, alright, it's starting now. Thank, you.
Speaker 7It smells okay.
Speaker 6Is it an adult chai?
Speaker 4It is a healing one 2d4 plus 3. Nuri is in return for me, kind of helping fund the arts and the theater business in Vivane. Nuri is a devotee of Cilsilon and bears a small vestige of her power, like a fingernail, truly. But you know, if anyone can go speak with her or see why she hasn't come down from the mountain or help her, nuri is the person to get you there. She's chosen and I took it upon myself to bring her here to you, bria you've helped me on.
Speaker 6Compare the ship Nuri.
Speaker 4I mean this world. All we can do is help each other. If we don't, who will? People will starve. It's not about me and it's not about you anymore. This is bigger than all of us. Now we must get the goddess down from the mountain. The show must go on.
Speaker 5That plays the thing. Thank you so much for the introduction. Um well, shall we? What does Nuri look like? And as I step out of the boat you can see that I am tall and sharp and sleek. I am of a perfectly tailored two-piece suit with a high mandarin collar which is a sherbani Very nice, just for the occasion. Yes, very much. It's immaculate, Very crisp. I have light olive skin but with a bit of a copperish patina, and out of my head you can see coming blue flames leap out Out of the crackling Mary's sort of normal flames that you might see from Flame Genasi. This is just the most controlled blaze you have ever seen. It's like the center of a stone, A gas range, Like a gas range where it's just like.
Speaker 5So, cold Pulled back sleek Somehow I have made sleek fire in my hand.
Speaker 6Okay, I'm glad to talk about that effect for my next film. It's very very impressive.
Speaker 5Thank you very much. Well, you all seem to be doing. You need a nap. You need a nap and a snack. I could choose a rest.
Speaker 7I can make snacks Very good. Well, I do want to take anything edible around. She's going to make a curry that she'll then make into dolkla, that she'll then make into, which is.
Speaker 3She is a queen of recycling leftovers.
Speaker 6You can't wait.
Speaker 4Trust me as you talk about taking a nap. Brea takes her duperta that's been tucked into her lange, just tied up as like a little pants, and throwing it in a circle. It lands first on the ground unceremoniously and then rises into a small tent as she casts Leamon's tiny house Aww Brea.
Speaker 6I have to apologize to you again.
Speaker 4For what it's always been such good for us. No.
Speaker 6When I, when we left on this journey, I told them that I was worried about you hurting yourself. I didn't want you to get into danger, and so we should go without you. But now I know you are perfectly capable of taking care of yourself.
Speaker 3Well, uh, except the, compliment dear.
Speaker 4I'm working on that, um, thank you.
Speaker 7You're already good, good.
Speaker 6I'm going to go into this tent and take a nap. Is that fine, you?
Speaker 4see that the inside of the tent and the outside is adorned like a dupe-wet dye. It has gold and brightery on it. It is bright red and as you step inside you have safe sanctuary. Excellent, long rest, long rest Do you want to take? Do you want to spend eight hours? I would love to.
Speaker 5I can take a night shift. I'm absolutely fresh. Yes, yes, and I will take the first, or I will just take the watch. Oh, thank you no right.
Speaker 6I'm just going to Thank you so much. I'm going to lay down Choutu. Just kind of snuggle up with me. Oh, you haven't seen Choutu, I'll show you a picture. Um, and Choutu just snuggles like, spins around like a dog and snuggles up like spoons there and I'm going to sleep.
Speaker 1During the rest. I'm wondering if Ash could sneak a moment with Natasha.
Speaker 4You could do so before the rest too, if you'd like.
Speaker 1As everybody's settling in, I sort of sidle up next to Natasha. So this device that you use to speak to your fans, Well, I don't like to call them that.
Speaker 3They're my audience, very good.
Speaker 1They are all over the world.
Speaker 3Well, all over Vihar.
Speaker 1Do you think there's a way I could send a message through it to my family?
Speaker 7Oh yeah, Where's your family at?
Speaker 1Well, they're not in Vihar, they're in Bracea world. Oh, it's quite far from here.
Speaker 4Oh Well, I could try to send a message to them. Can you tell me?
Speaker 3what they look like.
Speaker 1My partner, Liesl, is a wood elephant. She's absolutely beautiful. She has two flowing braids that are blonde and Uh-huh. Just a forever smile pasted on her face and she has a little birthmark right here, like in a crescent shape. Maybe that helps. And then my I have a son, his name is you left your kid. Yes, I had to.
Speaker 4To come here To save the goddess. That's so brave, you know, I'm sure she'll reward you.
Speaker 3Hmm.
Speaker 1I just, I don't even know why I'm here. I just I just knew I had to be here.
Speaker 4Well, that's a reason though. Yes, yeah.
Speaker 1So I just I don't know how dangerous this adventure is that we Probably pretty dangerous. Yeah, I'm guessing it's been pretty rough so far. Yeah, I just want Abbie to know and Liesl to know that I love them and I will be back as soon as I can. That's it.
Speaker 3Aw, that's mushy, but it's cute.
Speaker 1You can add some of your. I noticed these fun little characters that you put in to your your words on the screen. You can add some of that if you like. Like a banana or something? He loves bananas.
Speaker 3Okay, I'll add a banana. Okay, great, thank you.
Speaker 4Make a performance check to see how well you described Liesl.
Speaker 1Hmm.
Speaker 4Six. Yeah, she can send a short message to someone with which she's familiar, but she has a hard time establishing connection and instead, well-meaningly, she's like Mm-hmm.
Speaker 3Mm-hmm, ah, na-na-na, mm.
Speaker 4I can't really reach her right now, but I have something better.
Speaker 3Mm-hmm, hey y'all, it's Natasha.
Speaker 4Um, if anyone knows, Liesl or Abbie all the way from Brazel. Hold on, hold on. Make sure you let them know that.
Speaker 7Ash loves them. Oh, my God, ash, your daddy loves you, he loves you so much he's risking his life for your legacy.
Speaker 4And Liesl, I don't know you and I've heard that you're white, but I'm sure that you're great.
Speaker 3I've heard what elves are great people.
Speaker 4I'm sure you'll get access to health care soon. How do you Bye?
Speaker 7Oh yo that's private right.
Speaker 4I have quite a large audience. I'm sure someone from your family will see this.
Speaker 3Oh my God, Uh, uh, oh my God, ash just throws up.
Speaker 1Ash just throws up what. What's wrong. I'm sure someone will pass the message to them. I was hoping for a private message, like a direct message but, I, couldn't get an answer. No, okay, so can you undo like you, just sort of undo it?
Speaker 3No, but why? Why is that?
Speaker 4so bad. I'm sure someone from your family will see it and show it to them.
Speaker 1No, that's why it's so bad. I don't want my parents to know.
Speaker 4Why don't you want your parents to know?
Speaker 1Say no, I've never told them about it. Abbey what.
Speaker 4You probably should have told me that. Yeah, I guess, so I didn't think you were going to do it publicly.
Speaker 3Well, I didn't, I didn't.
Speaker 1It's okay, it was.
Speaker 4But, you know what it's okay. You know what, though? This way you don't have to tell them, they just have to accept it, and so when you do talk to them, they'll have had time to sit with it. Oh.
Speaker 3No no no, no, no no no no.
Speaker 7People from my generation don't sit with it, they see with it.
Speaker 3I'm sorry Ash.
Speaker 4I just kind of thought maybe the word would get back to them.
Speaker 1No, you didn't do anything wrong, it's.
Speaker 4I'm sorry Ash.
Speaker 1It's okay, it's okay, I'm just going to go hey.
Speaker 4Ash's parents if you're watching this oh?
Speaker 1no.
Speaker 4That's not going to happen.
Speaker 3Ash is a good boy and I was lying about the kid.
Speaker 4It was a For you. It was a practical joke, but also up here daddy loves you.
Speaker 1I think I'm just going to take my rest now. I have no words. I have no words.
Speaker 4Did I do a bad?
Speaker 2No, you did a great job.
Speaker 7Yeah, it was very enjoyable. Did you like the show Very good? Ash is going to go hyperventilate in the corner.
Speaker 1This is like when your parents call you and your friends start moaning in the background and you're thisy.
Speaker 4Has that ever happened to you Moaning? Yeah, they'll start moaning in the background, like you're up to no good. Not moaning, but I'm like I will exit the room.
Speaker 7I have to. Yeah, I will. Oh, facetime, you see a blank white wall, so you don't see anybody. Anything. I'm not even doing anything, but my mom is, who's that?
Speaker 1Your friends are like uh, who's that?
Speaker 7boy.
Speaker 3Is that a white boy? Who's that boy?
Speaker 7Who's that boy? Who's that boy? Nobody, there was nobody. A stranger, yeah.
Speaker 3Why don't you go home? So good You're incredible.
Speaker 7I have energy at the table, parallel. Yeah, I'm going to go home.
Speaker 3I'm going to go home, I'm going to go home.
Speaker 5I'm going to go home. I'm going to go home. Parallel.
Speaker 4Yeah, the party settles down to go to sleep, leaving you and Bria at the entrance to the tent keeping guard. Bria sits with a cup of tea. Her cat familiar comes out from underneath her linga and like sits. She pets himself like kind of like, subconsciously or worriedly, maybe like a little too, a little too fast. She pets all. She's nervous.
Speaker 5I take the cat out of her lap and I hand her like a little squeezy A little squeezy, a little stressful, and I give the cat. Like I am, I dangle a little piece of string for the cat.
Speaker 2Wow, I think her talent is good.
Speaker 5I'm glad you're here. I'm glad to be here too. I appreciate that you use your resources and your energy such that it is for really taking care of your community.
Speaker 4Well, if we don't do it, we will, that's true.
Speaker 5And you know, a party of inventors isn't always the answer, you know.
Speaker 4What else could heaven answer?
Speaker 5Just gradual little efforts here and there by the entire community. Not everybody is as giving as you are. Everybody loves to show up for the parties and for the big spectacle, but the daily work of it is a little harder.
Speaker 4I do think you're right, neri. As you're playing with the cat, you notice something tucked into its collar. Come here, come here.
Speaker 7Oh no, Come here, oh cursed cat.
Speaker 3Oh America Does anyone want to explain.
Speaker 1No, I'm asleep, we're asleep.
Speaker 7Hey guess what.
Speaker 6It's me.
Speaker 3I mean I know, can I see it? Can I see it, maybe I'll know in season two.
Speaker 7Oh, she'll know.
Speaker 1I think you get a little bit of some booms and you get to go into this room and have private conversations with Jasmine that none of us are privy to.
Speaker 7Yeah, that's all I just kind of love more stuff. I know, I know, I know, I know I know Sorry about it, and if you're cute you get one. We haven't got one.
Speaker 2But we haven't, but we do have a got one no so.
Speaker 4Well listen, I told you the reason why I didn't want to say it. Yeah, it's, if you're cute.
Speaker 7No, but you said if you're cute, if you're being cute, yeah, you get one.
Speaker 2And I feel like we would have like 10. Oh Jasmine, why are you laughing?
Speaker 7Yeah, yeah, yeah. All the times you guys were being cute yeah there was time to talk.
Speaker 2I mean it was pretty darn cute when he was talking about his son. I would say that Molly, can you bring us the list of all the times we were?
Speaker 5We were playing the cute list.
Speaker 6Oh, I'm sure Bacha has one.
Speaker 3I'm sure Bacha has a cute list Deep, deep, deep, deep, deep, deep yeah.
Speaker 4Actually, you do notice that Bacha is sleeping, probably very comfortably, next to Jasmine, oh, next to Merca, oh, even though Bacha cannot sleep, so he's just seeing you as well.
Speaker 7She's having it snuggled out To comfort you.
Speaker 4Yeah, lay down this little mechanical red panda Lay down, curls its tail up, and then you just see two LED lights, like little crystals thrumming with electrical energy.
Speaker 5They're like spinning, they're spinning, they're spinning. Like loading yeah, you're just like sleeping, that's okay, pardon.
Speaker 2I'm going to lay down a little bit. Bacha lights out.
Speaker 3Bappa.
Speaker 2Mm-hmm.
Speaker 3I don't want to sleep. Oh, oh, all right, I'll be done, all right. I'll be done, not sleeping All right, I'm glad we're reading your story.
Speaker 2Thank you for volunteering.
Speaker 1I'll read your story, you know, and then I do how much time do we got?
Speaker 4you've got 25 words After that, but just attention wonders yeah.
Speaker 2It's just generally.
Speaker 4Initiate sits cross-legged in front of you, the two ears flopping back and forth.
Speaker 1Here's a story that my son likes does I count? Not yet. There's a little girl. Her name is Luna. She looks up at the moon. She says I want to go to the moon. It's impossible, says her parents. It's impossible, says her friends. Three more words. Three words the reflection In the lake In the lake I'm taking extra words shows the moon and she jumps in and Plays on the moon that night.
Speaker 2Mmm, what do you say?
Speaker 3but yeah, Thank you, uncle, uncle tear list.
Speaker 7There's a ranking of uncles.
Speaker 4Madam girl for a while, but you demand silence. Silence mode activate. Right no, you give me a perception, check oh.
Speaker 5That's a 16 on the die, which means 18.
Speaker 4You see them before they see you. Oh no, let's just get some what.
Speaker 2What are you?
Speaker 6You want to, but just like maybe not, don't do it. You're all here in the tent hanging out and sleeping asling and to party years come.
Speaker 3You.
Speaker 6Great.
Speaker 3Lost in the first one so few kissies a placeholder.
Speaker 6It's just like into the woods, the princess appear.
Speaker 2We're gonna get these kisses out, we get sick, we're gonna say help it, then you die.
Speaker 6All right, friends, show, this tail has like covered my ears while we're sleeping so that I can sleep so.
Speaker 4You see them before they see you.
Speaker 7That sucks too. Oh no, he's little nasty.
Speaker 4You see two goblins chatting amongst themselves. One says to the other and you, you get this with your 18. You hear I Think Someone else has done our work for us looks up at the sky. Every fortnight she rises. She's not here. Hear the other one say we should keep watch, regardless. They'll rise again, maybe just late. You hear the first one say We'll have to handle the interlopers. They're too close to the statue for comfort. That's what you hear transpire just over the soft, gentle sounds over the river. So ha, laid out in front of you, you hear the skittering of the spider, mount gently as it clacks its mandibles and stretches its legs and Then, kind of like, rearing up, stretching, you hear a crack in its back and then it settles back in to its first form.
Speaker 3It's doing yoga, huh.
Speaker 7To docile.
Speaker 4We're not asleep though, yeah, from behind Brea, no skittering over the moss with ease. Oh no you see, hey, guess what that sucks a phase spider, a phase spider. So you have one thing you can do before it grabs her with that 18, and then we'll roll for initiative.
Speaker 5You racked it, speak a different language. Then the rest of the population here. What was it? They typically speak a bissel.
Speaker 4Oh, that great yeah, um, so you understand what they're saying. I go and in a bissel I say hello, maybe treat with whoever you represent as you say, that the two turn and look at you inquisitively and the phase spider launches down and grabs Roll for initiative everyone oh yeah you've all enjoyed the benefits. Thank you, have a long, long Rest you guys add one.
Speaker 6What do I get out to ones nine? I'm 18 as well.
Speaker 1What's your decks 14?
Speaker 5916, so dirty 20 America 21 oh.
Speaker 3Okay.
Speaker 4Merca, you Are just rousing from sleep, mm-hmm, when outside the tent you hear the crash of a teacup and then you hear a. And then you hear a Esprit is whisked away. You hear a loud cluttering a and a clacking of mandibles. What do you do? I?
Speaker 2rush out and Seeing this happen, seeing that it's sort of like this natural, like we're not being attacked by like a military like that, like this is like a creature for the most part, mm-hmm. I do some quick math and I turn to the statue of Namir and I quickly touch his feet and grab a stick that's laying by his statue and I am using this as an arcane firearm. Oh, just like whisper, just like I Listen and I'll turn and I want to cast catapult at level one at this creature. It's gonna make a dex 14 safe.
Speaker 3Oh, my god, I'm so sexy.
Speaker 2So, Eleven yeah, okay, all right, as we do, eight, six plus five, eleven, eighteen Plus this damage, that's 20 points of damage nice, 20 points of Damage.
Speaker 4It is going to use its reaction to shoot its web at you. Make a dexterity, save you. Need to beat a 16.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 4All right. Oof, that's eight, eight total when it opens its maw and begins to shoot this web at you.
Speaker 5That's not where the web comes from, baby.
Speaker 7The web.
Speaker 4The web kind of forms into these strange skittering creatures that fly on the wind. This long proboscis, like Tensical coming out of it.
Speaker 5No, no I don't like it.
Speaker 6It's a proboscis. That's not, that's not that's. I veto that Entirely. Yeah, no, no not a fan.
Speaker 4No, it latches on to you. Sucking your blood, seven piercing damage and then dissolves back into silk threads and vanishes.
Speaker 2Oh, okay, so I just took seven piercing and that's yeah, okay, yeah, conceive Okay yeah, is there something Stuck. 20, that 20, some, what? I've got a bonus action, yes, as I got bit and blood is drawn. Ah geez, all right, let's go, and I'm gonna click my tongue and I've built a new cannon that's going to come out and Is going to blast those two. This is a flamethrower cannon. They've got to make decks. 14, six these two. Yeah.
Speaker 4Oh, decks 14.
Speaker 2Right there by everybody.
Speaker 4The one on the left makes it Okay.
Speaker 2The one on the right does not okay, so One of them, the that didn't save, takes eight points of damage. Eight points of damage. The other one takes four. All right, that's it, that's my move.
Speaker 4That's your move you Douse the two across the river with fire. You would notice that they go from like looking curious to like kind of taking battle positions, since they believe they are under attack.
Speaker 5It is your turn. Did they respond in any way to my?
Speaker 4Yes, they looked like they were about to speak back to you and then this, this chaos kind of broke out. Oh, oh whoops.
Speaker 5So in that case I shout an abyssal halt ceasefire. I have my hand at my side, ready to draw if need be, but I ask, may we treat with you?
Speaker 4make a persuasion check.
Speaker 5Oh baby yeah, I see what that looks like I have. I mean, I guess I don't know the that is.
Speaker 4Yeah, he calls back to you. This is what you get because you're so high. He says that phase spider Will take her to the Feywild. Be careful.
Speaker 5I Translate all of this like word for word, complete with like little footnotes of you, there's this one idiom that doesn't quite translate from this one but you know, basically, this is what's going on. Also, I overheard that we are too close to the statue. That the goddess is it. I relay everything. Wow, like word perfect.
Speaker 4That will take your action. Yeah, okay, you relay this information to the party. You notice, priya is now like bound, as this thing has like begun to like actually use its Abdomen to. You see, like these, these like strange appendages start to burst out of the boobos on its back. Yeah, it's to wrap Priya up, finding her, so she cannot cast spells. It is then going to attack you, since you attacked it.
Speaker 2Yeah, I'm bringing.
Speaker 4It's going to lash out with both of its legs, trying to strike twice. That is a d20. I was like that's a d12. The first one's definitely a miss, the second one is a 24.
Speaker 2Oh you owe to hit. Yeah, that'll okay, that'll hit, even if my shield goes up.
Speaker 7So all right.
Speaker 4You take Seven piercing damage. The two legs come out at you. You're able to duck under one and the second one catches you in the side. We see a quick rivulet of crimson begin to gush for Merca, but he holds strong. The face spider is then going to use its movement to skitter with preternatural speed, as it can phase walk to here.
Speaker 6How many feet is that?
Speaker 4it's supposed to be 80? I think Five. Let's do five, ten, fifteen, twenty, twenty five, thirty, thirty five, forty, forty five, fifty, fifty five, sixty, sixty five, seven, yeah.
Speaker 2That's why you're the gym Math like yeah, no, can't count.
Speaker 4The sounds of butchaw awaken you, as butchaw goes.
Speaker 1So I'm in full dad mode at this point. I've told this kid a story, like for all distress mode activate. But yeah, yeah am I able to get to the?
Speaker 4How much?
Speaker 1movement do you have? I'm 20, what walking speed?
Speaker 4So I don't think you could get halfway there if you use your movement and then use your action to dash.
Speaker 1I want to use a second level guiding bolts and Try to. My hope is that I'll be able to Hit this nasty little spider and somehow free Priya. That's Okay. What go pre add?
Speaker 4roll. This is a called shot which I I usually have. This is my house role. I usually have you take a negative five modifier to your role, but if you hit, the mandibles will open and free.
Speaker 7I will be released, okay let's go for it anyone cast anything on it, not during not doing that, we have less plus eight.
Speaker 1So we'll see I got 19 I Plus eight minus five, so 19 plus three, that's 22 to hit.
Speaker 4Oh, I need you to hit. You hit roll damage yes.
Speaker 2D6 get him in the mandibles. Oh man, the ball and the ball 15 15.
Speaker 4You see, as the guiding bolt strikes one of the arms holding, priya, it blows off and you, priya, comes tumbling out, still covered in this thick Icker that kind of shines with a bioluminescence in the sort of gloom you are in of pre dawn. Make a deck save 16 meets it beats it. So, yeah, no, the face spider hits, yeah you have to be a 16.
Speaker 2Met you it, bet you all right.
Speaker 4So once again, the web issues from its mouth and then forms into these small Fluttering creatures. Give me a nature check to see if you can identify what they are. It's an idea okay, let's say Only one of them is gonna hit you. You identify them as they're streaming towards you to be silk Sturges. It is similar to this blood-sucking Creature that you sometimes see in the under dark, but this one is formed of silk, and you would also know that they carry with them disease. You take Four piercing damage.
Speaker 1Make a con save long as it doesn't hit butcha, I'm good. That's a five on the die all right.
Speaker 4You, as you pull the sturge off of you and its proboscis retreats, you start to feel a warmth and a flush Begin to take hold where it was attached to you, in your shoulder, and you start to feel a little feverish.
Speaker 1That's not good my shots when I traveled here. I don't think so.
Speaker 7This one's gonna stick you guys, can I move first and then throw? Yes, okay, so I will move towards this spider 40 feet.
Speaker 4Five, ten, fifteen, twenty, twenty five, thirty, thirty five, forty okay and then I would like to throw a wondrous ladoo.
Speaker 7Okay yes, I go tricks ladoo mm-hmm. Do I get to roll for the monster? Do you have a monster that's already there?
Speaker 4Um, I have a couple of monsters that are here. Roll to see how good the monster you get is. Oh cool.
Battle Strategies and Questions
Speaker 1Okay, well, she's freaking that out real quick. I thought movement right, can I move towards the? Yeah, the spider.
Speaker 4You only have 20 feet, right, yeah?
Speaker 1just put me towards like let's do this going five, ten, fifteen.
Speaker 4Move you here, number two, two.
Speaker 7And I can tell you what it says on my list. Yeah, yeah, what it's saying. It says it would be an owl.
Speaker 2Here we go, bring the birds. Birds eat spiders.
Speaker 4You throw it 20 feet towards the spider 10, 15, 20, I believe so at the end of your turn. Yeah, I was like come on so my Owl.
Speaker 7What attack do they do?
Speaker 4I've got a step block for you. They make a talent attack. It's a plus three to hit for one slashing damage. Go for it. Oh, that's sexy 14 that's a hit. It just does one damage. It does it's one damage. Now your owl does have flyby, so it can actually move away without provoking off attack, so that's kind of the good thing it does, okay, okay so if I move with Joe to on my shoulder, does that count as his movement or only my move?
Speaker 6No, it would just count as your move. Fantastic, I want to get closer to this, close to the spiders, I can get. What's your movement of 30 feet?
Speaker 4five, ten, fifteen, twenty, twenty five thirty.
Speaker 6I want to, you know, transform into his Fantastic legal self, and then I'm going to cast Scorching ray at first level roll to hit 17 plus seven. So yeah, that's a hit.
Speaker 4Wow. And then Go ahead and roll all three rays at the same time and we'll just do damage all once.
Speaker 6Those don't hit, okay. So 2d6, 3d6, 11. Okay, damage now Joe to. I want him to run to Priya, which would be 30 feet, cuz she's right with him, right. Yes and I want him to Fiery teleport priya Away from the spider.
Speaker 4What is the range on your fiery teleportation?
Speaker 6range to get her, or range to how far can he teleport after? I think it's only 50. Oh, can he teleport like? Can he teleport us safely to 15 feet above? Is that a thing? Is the tree? Cuz the tree is hanging low, it might be better to move 15 feet away. I've 10 and let me just confirm that I'm right in this fire.
Speaker 4Teleportation 15 feet unoccupied because she's wrapped up, so like, if you land, if she oh, yeah, yeah and she falls. Okay, great now. Each creature within five feet phase spider must exceed on a deck, saving throw a deck saving, throw easy 15, I Got a 21, never mind good job. Explodes out of Chotu as he whisks free away to safety. Closer to led to wanty, as the fire it rubs the face. Spider brings up one of its mangled legs, still hanging on barely by thread from the guiding bolt, and shields itself from the flames.
Speaker 5Merca, you're up and finish. Finish him, sweep the leg.
Speaker 4That is the top of the round. Um, this guy a ceasefire I. Leave her friend here sort of a charmed you with their ways 60, the archer knocks an arrow into its longbow and actually takes a shot at the phase spider.
Speaker 2There we go.
Speaker 5Wow, doesn't do well.
Speaker 4That's a 12. The first arrow goes wide. Studying his breath as his mount kind of like undulates underneath them, he fires again, this time hitting as the arrow goes out you notice that it almost has like a little like anchor attached to it. It is more designed to Grapple, then it is to harm. Let's see, the spider is gonna make a check to see it got a nat 20. The Bola goes flying through the air and then One leg, one new appendage bursts out of one of these boobos on its back, intercepts it before it makes contact with its legs. The second archer there's no way he can hit from this range and there's no way he can cross the river.
Speaker 3He just comes over here.
Speaker 4I'm gonna pad to Lily pad. He comes over here and instead roots his friend on.
Speaker 6You got this despite. I get disadvantage for just being wicked ugly no, it actually gives it Advantage.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, you are up quick question carrying something, does that count as an action?
Speaker 4No object interaction is free.
Speaker 2Okay, I'm gonna pick up my cannon and I want to walk 30 feet towards the spider.
Speaker 4Okay 30.
Speaker 2great Okay, I am now within.
Speaker 5If you pledge, I will personally come to your house and write you a beautiful note.
Speaker 2Negative gamma. I went to a room to squared Um. I am going to hit. It was scorching ray.
Speaker 6Okay.
Speaker 2Uh, that's, it's 12, that's a mess. That's 11, that's a mess. But this is.
Speaker 4Scorching rays come shooting out of your cannon but anticipating it, the phase spider temporarily blinks out of existence. What then reforms? Where it is Is it didn't take damage, so it can't give you the action. Would you like to do anything with your browness action?
Speaker 2Uh, my flamethrower is going to. Uh, take one step closer, so it's a within 15 feet, and blast it with um some fire decks, 14 save.
Speaker 4Lightwork 17 on the die okay, well met. Noody, you're up.
Speaker 5Okay, so this spider has already dropped.
Speaker 4Yeah, yes, and toadu has gotten her 15 feet away to safety. She is still gagged and bound by this thick like sort of um this silk that has this sort of iridescence to it, this bioluminescence to it. But she is alive and she is out of its mandibles for now.
Speaker 5I sort of shout as I pick up my things Uh, do we need to? Uh, can we just get rid of it, or do you need us to defeat it or in any way?
Speaker 4Oh, do you ask like this then? Yes, as you say this to him in the bissel, he says to you these creatures aren't inherently evil. They are afraid of loud noises.
Speaker 2Huh y'all, we gotta ask more questions.
Speaker 5Uh, I, I, I, I, I. I said these creatures are not inherently evil. They are afraid of loud noises. I am going to, uh, I'm going to, um, dash, yeah, closer. Yes, can I make it to? I'm 30?
Speaker 420, 25, 30, you're here, uh-huh, and then you get another 30.
Speaker 5Oh wait, no, uh, I do not dash. Actually, I Pull out a coiled whip from my side. I go and, uh, use booming blade. Oh, I might not be able to reach this. I won't be able to reach the spider, but it's still going to have. Uh, it's going to sheath the whatever I hit.
Speaker 4Yes, in booby. Make a performance check with advantage. Since you're like.
Speaker 5Yeah, pretty cool. Uh, that's a 17 on the die plus, I think, three. I can actually look that up. Um, that's a 17 on the die plus four, which is a 21. So I pull it out, whip it around my head and a sheath of thunder Just cones down onto the rock in front of me.
Speaker 4Yeah, boom, the closed sort of like this, this thick claustrophobic area. You're in the humidity and the air seems to amplify the sound as it echoes around you, bouncing between the trees, seemingly coming from nowhere and everywhere all at once. The spider skitters for a moment and fleas, oh yay, as you exit initiative.
Speaker 3Wow.
Speaker 7Oh, well done you.
Speaker 3Natasha, I hope you will afford it back.
Speaker 6Yes, oh yeah, where's Natasha you?
Speaker 4are Natasha's scared, poor baby Okay.
Speaker 5All right, everybody, I think, uh, that'll be about 30 till moving.
Speaker 1Oh, right back to business.
Speaker 6That sounds great. Um about these other.
Speaker 2Uh, gentle oh right yeah, that are compatriots.
Speaker 4You are left with the two members of the rachnid court, one of whom is very skillfully swimming through the water Kind of towards your direction, and the first one, on his phase spider mount, says to you Well met, well met friend.
Speaker 1Okay, it is game time. Omar, you have 30 seconds to roll a nat 20 with this glorious D20 from our sponsor, diehard dice, while I sell the belief out of them to our viewers.
Speaker 2So I mean choose your choice, this beautiful, shiny one.
Speaker 1Okay, remember. If you don't do it, I pull from the squid of squalor.
Speaker 2Okay, but if I crit within these 30 seconds and you have to, Whatever we don't have to, that's not gonna happen. So here we go.
Speaker 1All right, ready? Yeah, 36 o'clock Go. Okay, all the dice from diehard dice are designed and handcrafted and are in-house by, oh, their alchemists and Artificers before they are sent off to production. They take pride in the quality, creativity, intent and care behind all of their designs. You're not getting it, dude. You think everyone does this. They do not. Okay, I have so much more to read.
Speaker 1These guys have to go above and beyond. Why? Because diehard dice to do Is comprised of gamers. Their dice are made by ttrpg players for ttrpg players. They make the absolute. Stop it here, careful enough, yeah, I'm gonna go. You take over, you start.
Speaker 2That says they make these absolutely gorgeous metal ones, but they also make gorgeous polymer sets.
Speaker 1I mean look at these look at these.
Speaker 2Look at these. All right, son deep, how'd you do? You got it in the end. What does this mean? We both have to do one.
Speaker 1We both have to do the one we pull. We both have to do the one we pull at the same time.
Speaker 2Okay, all right, so we're doing one. We're between the two of us. Okay, all right, here we go. I'm gonna pick this one. I can't believe this. Okay, vicious, mokker yourself in the mirror.
Speaker 3Okay.
Speaker 2Wow.
Speaker 1Very good t-shirt all day.
Speaker 2How about just reporting Screenplay coming along pal?
Speaker 3Okay, it's okay, it's okay, it's okay, it's okay, it's gonna be okay for you.
Speaker 1Just go to dieharddicecom and use code basic quest for a hot discount. Oh, and that you're gonna write that screenplay.
Speaker 2I know I'm not, you are it's about a guy who moves home.
Speaker 1It will work on the problem.
Speaker 4Welcome back. You enjoy the relative peace and serenity. The woods now quiet after the echoing crack of Noory's whip. Find yourself in the company of these two strangers behind you. You hear Now out of the collapsed tent.
Speaker 3And there was a spider, and then everyone attacked a little baby girl, and then, and then. Now I think that they, they succeeded in their mission. I'll see you later.
Speaker 4And don't forget to like, comment and subscribe. You can find me everywhere at natasha kisser, niharika the seven.
Speaker 6Can I? I'm gonna run over to priya and while I'm trying to cut her out with my kukri, I'm going to telepathically just ask are you okay, priya? Are you there? Can you hear me?
Speaker 4Telepathically. You hear back.
Speaker 6Yes, I'm alive, I think okay, just just be still outcome. I'm getting you out.
Speaker 4I want to rush over to there as well as you rush over, you begin to feel lightheaded.
Speaker 6Who's got? Someone needs some I.
Speaker 1Yes, I'm feeling a little woozy from see whatever the Uh uh Robi's kiss. Aren't you a doctor? I am a doctor, I have. I just need to know how priya is before I cast my lesser restoration on one of us.
Speaker 6So I think it's safe to do it on you, um and I. How fast can I cut her out?
Speaker 4I'm cutting, I'm cutting, I'm cutting yeah okay, you have a magical weapon, right yeah?
Speaker 1Yes, I have also a haladi.
Speaker 4I can yeah, you're able, with your Gukri, to cut open this and as you do see it, you do notice A little bit of the color has drained from priya's cheeks. She looks more of a mossy green than her usual sprightly spring green. Give me a medicine check.
Speaker 1Sorry, 19. Okay, she's poisoned as a healer. I have to do it on her first.
Speaker 6I just there's no way I can go fast so we can take care of you. How does he look to me? Is he like ready to Boss out? How?
Speaker 4close are you to? Your vision is beginning to double. Your temperature is beginning to rise. You probably notice some sweat. Which one is she?
Speaker 6Uh, I'll just grab him and put his hand on her Perfect.
Speaker 1Yep, that feels right, and I whisper some mandras and cast lesser restoration.
Speaker 4She immediately begins to feel the healing effects of your magic and the poison condition is removed.
Speaker 1Okay, Now you, now you, well you, let me cast it again.
Speaker 4Yeah, you cast it again. You take four damage in the interim. As you're begin to sweat more and your vision is kind of doubling. You feel your stomach turn and it feels like you've had some very bad street food.
Speaker 6Quick question I have an herbalism kit Mm-hmm. Is that something that I could possibly use for like natural remedies to poison.
Speaker 4You can, yeah, if you want to save your spell slot, that's an option. I think it is worth trying.
Speaker 6Okay, let's try it. God help us. Uh, guidance, as she points to herself.
Speaker 4Then you look through the tinctures and components in your herbalism kit. You pull out the one you think will work and notice that the vial is empty. Please, the label stares back at you hauntingly and you see ronnie foil written on it. You feel like this is a very great way to lower someone's temperature, but it's empty as you pull it out of your kit. Sorry.
The Search for Guidance and Assistance
Speaker 4I think it's best if I use my spell, uh, because it's Great dependable yeah you recover from your diseased condition and you stand with two emissaries from the rachnid court Treating you with the same respect that you treated them. It shouldn't be here.
Speaker 5It's very dangerous agreed, but, um, we are trying to get to the top of the mountain To awaken in siltzolani. I'm so sorry I couldn't help it over here. Um, you said that she hasn't been around recently.
Speaker 4I was referring to. There are two sisters who dwell in this wood, oh soha in suria, twisted by some dark, nefarious magics. Me and my people, we defeat them every fortnight, but they always come back.
Speaker 5And when you defeat them.
Speaker 2um oh, by the way, I'm live translating this oh, okay, so I'm live translating this Like you know, a UN style.
Speaker 5Or is it like kind of behind the?
Speaker 6line You're like quietly Telepathically tell Nuri oh yeah, we might have taken care of that for this fortnight.
Speaker 5Oh, I see, I see, I see, and you said somebody had done your work for you. That's a positive thing, yes, hmm, oh, well then that was this band of adventurers here. You're welcome. You're welcome.
Speaker 4Thank you for doing it once when we've been doing it for decades. But yes, you're Thank you.
Speaker 6God, you've got to be perfect, didn't you?
Speaker 7I have a question I would love translated that spider could take people to the Feywild. Yes, I have been told my sister and my brother-in-law might be there. Do these people?
Speaker 5know anything about that. We are looking for members of this party's family. I get a rough description from you of what they might be like. I understand that going to the Feywild, often people don't come back. No, is there a?
Speaker 4way of Me and my people. We've learned to tame the Feywild spider. We are able to move back and forth. Here, the veil between the two worlds is the thinnest. We take it upon ourselves to save these city folk from the things that would tear them apart. For the service that we commit or that we perform, for the service of keeping the woods safe, we are branded as heretics, as savages, as barbarians. We are asked to give thanks for being allowed to live in our ancient ways and our customs. And now you want a sherpa to go to a realm which you are not fit to go to. You are soft and you will perish there.
Speaker 6We are not asking for more. We are simply asking for guidance as to what the safest way would be for us to go.
Speaker 5I translate this and I also add if you at all would like this group to go about their business, they would love to know guidance towards the safest path. Do you feel that it is wise for them to pursue this line of inquiry?
Speaker 6I see, if we can give you a sort of brand glow-up among the people, between me and this young lady here in Natasha, we can reach a lot of people and let them know the truth about all of you, that you are doing us a servant service, that you are not barbarians, that we need you to keep the balance between all of the worlds. If we were to offer this to you, which I would gladly do either way, could you give us any help going there, not going there yourself, but any help.
Speaker 5I will add that, whether we like it or not, the new is here to stay. The march for progress carries on without us, so we are going to have to mitigate the ways in which it reaches the old world. I believe that this group can help with that. Make a persuasion check, got it? 17. Plus one level, yes, 17. 19.
Speaker 4I suppose you are correct these creatures so at home in this dark, loamy environment. Although you've been subject to many horrors here, with his like half closed eyes and the gentle rumble of his voice, you are suddenly aware of how beautiful Marboni Forest is and how, even in the decay and decomposition, life thrives for those who are looking for it. You see his mount below him, aptly named Zeher skittering, and as he gently gives it a pat, you may even notice for a moment. She is not quite as grotesque as you originally thought. He takes out a small grub from his pocket and feeds her and says you're right, things change. There's a large change. He gestures to the throne, a moss-covered throne. I think if we were to have this rebrand, you would have to rebrand the deity we serve, tulve.
Speaker 5What do I know about Tulve.
Speaker 4You would know that Tulve is the Lord of Flies. He is also. They also call him the King of Rot. He is the keeper of Marboni Forest and Kirkid Sun Fort.
Speaker 6So I'm a little confused. Is that who Namir replaced? Yes, excellent, okay, good, good.
Speaker 4And actually he says this to you, Lord Tulve, and now Lord Namir we would gratefully and honestly change the way people think of this Lord.
Speaker 6He has been kind to us and wise to us, and he was a compatriot of ours until recently. He is a deity worth serving. Tulve was as well. Yes.
Speaker 4And he was fooled.
Speaker 2Oh sorry, what do you mean by fooled?
Speaker 4Don't know the tale.
Speaker 2I don't know. I'm sorry.
Speaker 4There was a war long ago. The deities who now hold power were the victors, but there was another group that sought to judge mortals once and for all. These two factions fought Tulve, his family. He wanted them not to be involved in this conflict, so he fell prey to the deception of Rukon Rukon.
Speaker 1Is this the magistratum Was one of the warring sides.
Speaker 4They sought to judge people and remove them from the earth, allow nature to overtake it, being unworthy of redemption.
Speaker 6So this Rukon, one of the magistratum, what are they the deity on?
Speaker 4They are the deity of righteous justice.
Speaker 6Well, rukon, be responsible for judging humans and whether or not they live in this realm or the Feywild, like your parents.
Speaker 4He is a justicar.
Speaker 1A justicar.
Speaker 6A justicar. Where do we find him?
Speaker 4He was defeated long ago. They all were the magistratum. Oh, the magists were defeated. They knew Minari overthrew them, sil-sala and her siblings won. They have been in power ever since.
Speaker 6Do you know why Sil-Sala refuses to come down?
Speaker 4No, I uh. The lofty aspirations of the mountain are not for me and my people. We are not welcome. We sometimes trade with the people of the mountain. We can help you get there to the foothills. Yes, we must go. We can lead you through the Mahangat. We may even be able to give you some mounts, but in terms of getting to the top, they find those of us that belong to the court, they find us a bit unsettling. Tulve has had a bad reputation in recent years since his madness took hold.
Speaker 6We have a friend here who may be of a particularly persuasive bent towards Sil-Salaan. If you help us get there, we may be able to convince her to come down. I have one more favor to ask. This young girl has no place being in this much danger, but she does have a particular power to spread messages far and wide. Hi, Do you think you could get her to safety perhaps her own family while we head to the mountain?
Speaker 4As you say this, Natasha comes to you and is like Auntie, what are you talking about?
Speaker 3What, if you need my help?
Speaker 6Sweetheart, you're going to help so much by spreading the word. We need you to spread the word. We need you to be the teller of tales. We need you to be the keeper of history. This is an important role for us.
Speaker 5Me. You Due to your large platform. You have a responsibility to use it properly. You know how Brea has her influence and her wealth in her place in the society. She creates much goodwill by spreading that wealth and generosity.
Speaker 4And I can do that.
Speaker 5You can do that very easily.
Speaker 7yes, oh, wow.
Speaker 1Natasha, before you go, I'm wondering if you received any messages from the ones that you sent out for me.
Speaker 3Yeah, I have a message from Abbey.
Speaker 1Could you, could I see.
Speaker 4Well, it's a written message, but says he loves you and misses you very much, and also one from your parents, and they said that they need to talk to you.
Speaker 3Okay.
Speaker 4They said um, we need to talk period Cap, just a period.
Speaker 7Just a period, that's important Cap's a little lowercase.
Speaker 1Was it all caps? It was um all caps.
Speaker 4Oh.
Speaker 7Okay, but that is also standard. That's how I talk.
Speaker 3That's true, they might not have known how to make it off Caps.
Speaker 7I think is possible.
Speaker 1They could have just not known how to take it off the caps, but anyway, can you read me the one from Abbey again.
Speaker 3I love you and I miss you.
Discussion on Cultural Exchange and Mounts
Speaker 1Thank you. If there's any way to demonstrate, uh like that, I liked that message or loved it in some capacity, I would prefer that you go ahead and do that, if you wouldn't mind.
Speaker 5Maybe if you can respond with some series of moving pictures, hmm.
Speaker 4Oh, I could probably conjure something A little minor image. Do you see how?
Speaker 6important you are. Do you see the good you do?
Speaker 1Hmm, you're a generation's.
Speaker 4Yeah, even really old, out of date ones like yours.
Speaker 3Even that, yeah, okay, well, nani don't be sad.
Speaker 4I'm sure you'll learn to use the sending stone one day.
Speaker 7Well, actually I have a question. Uh, you know maybe it's stupid, so, um, but you know I have a little small business. Ah, you know, it seems like you're doing a lot of advertising, so I don't know if you know, if you want to like, you could promote or something you know like, or you could make me. I don't know, it's too bad.
Speaker 1Give us some of the laddus. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Pr yes.
Speaker 7Young people are dieting. Do you want laddu?
Speaker 1Maybe, there's a gluten-free version.
Speaker 3You say to an elephant you're skin and bones.
Speaker 7You don't need laddu.
Speaker 3You're saying this to the elephant girl. I love laddu. They're my favorite. I've been told by physicians.
Speaker 4I need to not eat as many laddu.
Speaker 7Don't tell your physicians that you should always be eating all the time.
Speaker 6These are excellent laddus.
Speaker 7They're very good for you very helpful.
Speaker 6Make sure to include that when you share that with and I don't have a page or anything.
Speaker 7So I don't know what you do. But you know you could make me a page and you could tell me the password and stuff. Make it simple, don't something crazy.
Speaker 5Sure, I've written down some copy for you Excellent yes, some approved language. Okay, but I approve it. Yes, don't worry. Okay, yeah, all right. Yeah, so Just a couple, just maybe three, you know, over the course metered out of the course of a week. Yes, all right. But also how should I say this? The older generation has some wisdom for you as well, so please be sure to keep your mind open to learning things as you disseminate information.
Speaker 3Okay, I'll try.
Speaker 5Maybe write things down before you say them.
Speaker 6sometimes that's a good idea. Auntie, sit on it. It's like a 24-hour rule it's really generally a good idea.
Speaker 7Yes and generally size up because you know you don't want your clothes to be too tight.
Speaker 6It's a slightly different conversation. Yeah, two sizes up.
Speaker 7Shoes, shirts, pants. Okay, one plait Good, oh my God.
Speaker 6I'm just going to say in her head okay, now go, save yourself.
Speaker 7No, boys drink water. Go to bed at seven.
Speaker 3There's no way she's calling out she's trying to go away.
Speaker 1I've changed my attention to the goblins. So these mouths do you speak of? Is there something we can offer to you for them?
Speaker 4No, we just ask that you're not harmed the creatures here. You show them the same respect that you would show anyone else living here. This is their home.
Speaker 2Speaking of which, I just want to formally apologize for using a flamethrower Eldridge Cannon against you, and I hope that this makes things okay and I take out a little wad of cash, oh God, and just kind of.
Speaker 5I take the cash and I pull out a little gift basket of grubs.
Speaker 7Yes, there we go and a bag of ladoo.
Speaker 4This is a little bit more in keeping with like what they.
Speaker 2Did you just have a bag of grubs on you?
Speaker 5Yes.
Speaker 6Oh God know your audience, darling Know your audience.
Speaker 7You couldn't give me cash any time you wanted.
Speaker 2That's so funny Um.
Speaker 4Why do you, why do you try to solve your problems with pieces of paper?
Speaker 2Uh, I don't know, standard social conventions, I guess.
Speaker 4Yeah, art felt. Condolence or apology will always be more than arbitrary wealth.
Speaker 2In that case, I'm sorry that I used a weapon before getting to know you both, all three of you.
Speaker 1Maybe you should touch the all eight feet of the.
Speaker 7Very good blessing. The spider's probably older than you Just throwing it out there, good, good.
Speaker 2Absolutely, of course. And then I go to touch their feet and the spider, Obviously the spider's not going to be here, okay, okay.
Speaker 3Fuck it, Give me no. This is a good gesture.
Speaker 5This is very Is customary in their culture Touch feet.
Speaker 4Yeah, no, In this he culture really. Yeah in Baha'i touch feet is a. Yeah, you go to touch Malthan's feet. Who's the goblin you've been speaking with? He stops you immediately.
Speaker 3Oh, you go to touch their feet. I don't know if that's a good thing, when they stop them.
Speaker 4That's the boundaries, and as you touch her feet you notice she has beautiful purple eyes and eyelashes across her multiple eyes, kind of like a jumping spider, and she skitters at you a little bit and then rubs one foot on your head.
Speaker 3Oh, you just wanted me.
Speaker 2I Thank you Very much.
Speaker 4He hops down off of Zeher and says I suppose Pats her on the romp a little bit. I suppose you can borrow her or have other mounts.
Speaker 2Oh I, I wouldn't want to impose.
Speaker 4She scuttles up to you and does like that.
Speaker 1Oh.
Speaker 6This is a choice, not an imposition.
Speaker 2Well, in that case, you don't got to tell me once and I'll, I'm aboard the spider.
Speaker 7What is her name? Zeher.
Speaker 6How many of us can ride on one spider One? They are pretty small.
Speaker 4But there are other mounts that he's agreed to provide for all of you.
Speaker 2Cool, Until we get there, the rest of you losers walk. Let's go Zeher. She scutters off.
Speaker 4They're moving over the terrain with a ridiculous speed. Wow, give me a wisdom saving throw oh.
Speaker 2Here we go. I'm going to use the aprieta In case it goes bad, we can blame her.
Speaker 5Oh no, she can't oh.
Speaker 4Oh, an eight. Okay yeah. As Zeher skitters along, she finds pockets in time and space to navigate, ducking almost upside down under the river for a moment, you see a realm perfectly transposed under ours. You see a horned being with a long tongue that its eyes kind of swirling as it gazes at you, and then you're back in the forest, several feet ahead of where you were.
Speaker 1Ooh, Did we see that?
Speaker 4You see, the two of them zip in and out. Merca, you take although, like I said, you're moving very fast. You take three psychic damage as Zeher continues to blip in and out of existence. That's so cool, being able to traverse between these two realms with ease, carrying you along In the meanwhile, mothon brings the rest of you a phased spider of your own.
Speaker 6Cool, oh, that's cool, I want one. I can't speak with animals. You immediately hear four excited voices. Oh hello.
Speaker 4The first one comes up and says Good day Ooh.
Speaker 6Good day to you. I'm Kooja Kooja. I'm Sitara. Thank you for helping me and my friends. All right then.
Speaker 4Right, I suppose we'll take it rather fast. Okay, so just pop on back there. Okay, watch that leg. That one's still bruised. Right A venture. I tried to slice it off, right asshole.
Speaker 6Oh goodness.
Speaker 3What are?
Speaker 6the other friends' names so I can tell my which one is this one that's eating them Tear.
Speaker 3Chaku Pani, oh Pani.
Speaker 1I think Chaku is eating the spritzel from my hand.
Speaker 6Okay well, chaku, it is for you. You like Pani? Oh, drink plenty of.
Speaker 7Pani.
Speaker 1That one's a real tall drink of water, and then we have sex.
Speaker 6A phrase we use in our land. So that was Mothon, that was Kooja talking to me. We have Zeher Mothon, Kooja, Tear, Chaku and Pani. We have six. No, Mothon's the name of the goblin. Oh, Mothon's the name of the goblin. Okay, okay, okay.
Speaker 4Great, Okay, so you're putting juckles on Pani so her feet are protected? Uh yeah yeah. You would hear Pani's the shy one, uh-huh.
Speaker 3And she's more like down to her and she's like, oh my God, I've got to try not to get you to eat and we'll go out to the river, but what happened?
Speaker 6Uh, auntie Pani likes you very much. It says thank you. Good, let's not scare her.
Speaker 7That's what I thought.
Speaker 3Chaku was like.
Speaker 4After I finish devouring this pretzel, I will devour this small Benares man.
Speaker 6No, no, no, no, if you don't mind what's he saying. We actually need this small Benares man. He's a friend of mine, oh watch out, you could maybe stave off your appetite. I bet he could give you another one of these delicious pretzels.
Speaker 4I have pretzels. This one is stale. It makes me want to drive my mandibles through its weak torso.
Speaker 3Right, so do you have any fresh ones?
Speaker 6I think he likes me. Do you have any fresh pretzels? Fresh pretzels, anything good?
Speaker 1Yes, I've got some fresh ones. Yeah, there's a whole different strain in this bucket.
Speaker 6Wonderful, yes, anything that's good, right Hand it to him. Here you go, chaku.
Speaker 3Make an animal handling check.
Speaker 6Oh God, Dragons Okay.
Speaker 1All right, I'll use my real dice star. Don't look at that number, okay, 17. Oh Five is 23. Plus your guidance.
Speaker 7No, it's fine 17 is fine yeah.
Speaker 4You. It very skillfully texts the pretzel off your hand. You hear skittering. You hear you have bought your life for a small sum of time.
Speaker 6Well done, oh God, yay, oh, that was such a good one. Don't push it, don't push it. Oh, all right, gently, gently, dear, I guess all this left is dear and that is for you. Oh my gosh, I got these sandals.
Speaker 3They're so pretty.
Speaker 6You are getting my auntie. She's my favorite person in the world.
Visiting Mountain Range and Cultural Differences
Speaker 3Okay, let's go, I will sleepy. We'll see how well I do on this journey. I'd rather be at home right now. Do you need? She has a tie. Oh, you're trying to. Yeah, I'm trying to, oh, oh, oh.
Speaker 7Tie for him, tie for me, I'm gonna tie for you, I'm gonna tie for you.
Speaker 6I promise you, I'm gonna make you up, natasha you're still here, the fish. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 7That is it I feed this spider Masal tie. It is spicy, it is so sweet. It has fresh milk in it somehow.
Speaker 3Fresh milk, yeah, oh it's.
Speaker 5I ask for tears. Likes, just likes. Any allergies? I prefer a kind of music. Anything you need, dear.
Speaker 4I prefer good music. Like an arrow, I fly straight.
Speaker 6Excellent, so hold on tight.
Speaker 5Mmm, in the meantime I speak with Multan and his friend. You know, while everybody's mounting up, I ask about I? The version of the play the battle of good versus evil that is performed every year is still so long and it participates, but it is mildly different from the version that I heard from you just now, mmm. It's fascinating.
Speaker 4Yes, I think a lot of people don't know that Thil Salon, even though she represents chaos, she also represents the wild freedom that is living, truly living, and the festival of Rangali. She is only symbolically defeated so that discipline may range supreme, but not so that judgment will, because judgment divides Whereas Rukhan divides. Thil Salon agrees to lose in this battle to bring people together.
Speaker 5Many of our followers and representatives are thieves or those who study the arcane, people who seek to twist or to control chaos In some ways. That is why I am a devotee of hers, because that understanding of disorder leads to much better control and moderation and balance.
Speaker 4I think at least a thief is honest, a thief knows that he is stealing. I think we are all thieves.
Speaker 5Order and judgment are definitely not the same things. No, judgment is imposed. Order is something that works with chaos, much as I work with Thil Salon.
Speaker 4It is a scale. For me to do my job, you must do yours. For you to do your job, I must do mine. In a way, we are different sides of a scale. Without one, the other will fall. Without the other, the other one is left suspended in a height from which they can no longer see clearly the ground and everything around them.
Speaker 5My duties often keep me in the city, working on the production year round, but I would very much love if you could ever visit, or if I would be allowed to visit here with you. It is, it would be beneficial for both of us to understand our counterparts and, besides, I believe that Natasha might need some guidance as to how best to rebrand in the way that you wish.
Speaker 4Many times we sell fabrics, silks, garments woven from the phased spider silk to people in the towns, but we have to do so under other guises because people don't wish to do business with us. To carry out our business openly, maybe people would respect our craft more Well.
Speaker 5I hope that there will be a cultural shift thanks to better PR, thanks to more of an effort on the part of the townsfolk to reach out and learn. I must admit, when I first saw you I thought she has.
Speaker 4I don't know if you have this phrase where you come from, she has a giant stick Sick of my ass. Yes, that's quite common for us, but you wield the stick to help people and you are not as harsh as you seem. I appreciate that. Thank you very much, and thank you so much for your help with my friends.
Speaker 5I, even though I've just met them. They seem different than many other in-veterine parties in that they are constantly learning and they are not as good as they seem and that they are constantly learning and trying to do their best in all the little ways that they can.
Speaker 4I was gonna say they seem green, but this is the nicer way to say it Don't get my spiders killed or I will find you and I will tie you up and I will cover you in honey and. I will let the beasts and insects of the forest feast on you over a period of days. I took a time.
Speaker 6Since we have no idea what you're saying, I'm just going to oh my there is a scratch on you.
Speaker 4There is a scratch on any of my mounts. This is what you have to look forward to he smiles at all of you. Oh, oh, oh. You're the only one who probably really understands what he's saying. The rest of you just see a smile, yeah, and we just.
Speaker 1I think I heard the word ass stick that would hurt I love the words that you know.
Speaker 6That's impressive. I'm learning. What about Priya?
Speaker 4Yeah, priya is like stone recovering, okay.
Speaker 6Yes, Are you coming with us or are you heading home? Oh, I can just summon a state Wonderful. I think it best is you take some time to recover and perhaps you can also accompany Natasha to her family, along with these fellows.
Speaker 4She like claps, and then puts two fingers in her mouth and whistles and you see a spectral Bengal tiger come bounding out.
Speaker 3Ooh.
Speaker 4Okay, stop showing off.
Speaker 1Wow, a steed is a very different word in my language. You cannot see a Bengal tiger coming. Cool, what do you ride on? I'm riding on a spider right now.
Speaker 4No, but like a steed. What else do you think a steed is? Oh, we ride on horses. Ew, why would you? The hooves? Yes, they have hooves, right? Oh, it's like they're chuppals.
Speaker 1I don't think it would last half a second Now we have to put these shoes on them, kind of like chuppals.
Speaker 4Yeah yeah, iron Less powerful, she put the letter in you I feel like a horse would just be killed in 13 seconds in the horse, really Very weak.
Speaker 1Perhaps a war horse, no, we put armour on them sometimes. Yeah.
Speaker 3Why would you do that?
Speaker 1Because I guess they're kind of weak, oh Okay so.
Speaker 4This is just me attacking.
Speaker 7Rikha at the end. Yeah, yeah, I love.
Speaker 6Thank you again. I hope you feel better, hmm.
Speaker 4I'm sure we'll see each other again. I have my ways of Well catching up with you, so we've noticed.
Speaker 6Thank you, I just want to make one more insight. Check I just Something's off. I just want to. Yeah, maybe it's just I still don't trust her. I don't know, mm-hmm 18.
Speaker 418. Yeah, you Notice she's like a little probably myth to be on babysitting duty.
Speaker 6Hmm, yeah, thank you for taking Natasha. She's very important to this mission. You know, without her spreading the word, we don't have any way to get to the mountain, and what you're doing means a lot sister, I suppose I understand. Thank you.
Speaker 4All right, Nuri, I leave them in your capable hands. I'm sure you'll be able to manage some. Thank you.
Speaker 5There should be food delivered for you at your place, oh.
Speaker 2You're just on top of everything, right.
Speaker 5Absolutely, I am Mm.
Speaker 1All right give me up.
Speaker 6Oh no, no, no, no. I told him to be careful.
Speaker 4Yeah, you give your spider a kick, mm-hmm Um.
Speaker 3Oh.
Speaker 4One leg comes slapping out of you.
Speaker 7Like a reflexive doctor's office.
Speaker 1Yeah, just assume it's my tail, so it's fine.
Speaker 4Yeah, it's like a backhand. It's just how amazing Okay.
Speaker 7Another mock to the face. Ladoondi has never been on an animal in her entire life. This feels insane and she's having a blast.
Speaker 4Yeah, for all the 10 minutes Peter's off. You do hear the spiders clitter clattering as they carry you through more bonny forests. You hear bonny just the entire time like yeah.
Speaker 3I've never seen her so happy.
Speaker 6Like an on-town motor scooter when I say before it wears off, I just want to ask is there anything you all know about where we're going that maybe we should know to keep us from, you know dying?
Speaker 4Before you receive an answer, you are whipped into the fey and then back, and now you realize why Moorca is potentially calling, like, making, crying, I don't know whatever sounds you make ahead of you as you see, like, like I said, an actual rock-shis kind of loom out and reach towards you and then, shh, you are away again back into the realm, as these things cut through space and time, whisking you away to a new realm with preternatural speed, towards the foot of the mountains, towards the smallest range of the Mahan cut, which will eventually maybe lead you to Rock Dibba. We'll see if you get there with your facilities intact Next time. On this equation, oh, oh, oh, oh.
Speaker 3no, you steamed.
Speaker 4You see the summit of Rock Dibba and Silgar right below it.
Speaker 6You can trust me, I do. I'm looking for someone who is in trouble. They're getting ready to strike A natural 20? A natural 20 plus seven, that's an A20.
Speaker 2Two minus two Threat detected.
Speaker 7Threat detected Don't ever try to kiss me Comedy baby, you are turned into a tiny snake.
Speaker 3No, Auntie, I can explain why. Please don't hit me with the jump bolt.
Speaker 4What am I hitting? Her eyes roll into the back of her head. Her jaw unhinges. Man, they're dragging along the ground.
Speaker 2For those of you who have a deity, pray for me.
